Nice news, but considering the uptime issues with Airtel Xstream Fiber, they should stick to satellite-only services for TV.:blush2:
Internet based television services are rely with bandwidth. How much bandwidth a network is providing is question of hour now. IPTV's still an imagination in our country. I wish at one day IPTV will definitely serve for us.

I don't think it is as complex as it sounds. They already have the infrastructure for it, and they will simply use fiber as the medium to provide the service. They can set up a separate VLAN for IPTV, just like they currently do for voice and internet now, logically separating all three.

I have not faced any downtime barring their scheduled maintenance activities or rarest of rare occurrence of some tech related issues..... AIRTEL XStream Wi Fi services r excellent in all aspects

No, it’s not and its just not me. I’ve seen this issue mentioned all over the internet, from Reddit and Twitter to people I know who have Airtel Xstream. Most of them face uptime issues with Airtel. I agree that when it works, it works like a charm with no hiccups, but from an uptime perspective, it’s a big thumbs down.

Yes. I have also read similar experiences over Twitter (X) and Reddit. Those complaints are from genuine Airtel Fiber users who also share their SMS alert screenshots sent by Airtel and the date of service resumption keeps extending automatically for weeks without any quick resolution.

Jio is the clear winner it comes to fiber internet uptime. Literally zero downtime for years throughout India (because everyone using JioFiber says it) which is quite an achievement.

In my opinion, using Jio + Airtel optical fiber combo (if both are available in one place) is the best because during Airtel's frequent outages, we can at least switch to Jio.

Yes, I’m using the same Jio + Airtel combo now, and the best part is that Jio offers a 7-day ₹199 recharge for 100 Mbps. This flexibility is great since we don’t always need to recharge, but I think it’s only available for prepaid users.

Fiber can't reach everywhere. Airtel is still hesitant to give fiber connections to our area. I live very close to the city. Airtel/Jio both are calling everyday for Airfiber. Coming days will be for wireless not FTTH. IPTV with wireless could be more challenging. On other side BSNL is yet to launch IFTV services at our area. On enquiring BSNL said they have bandwidth issue to launch IFTV now. Satellite or cable TV are more reliable than these IPTV/IFTV. I always welcome for technology advancement, however sustainable technology advancement is still under question.

Airtel may brand their IPTV STBs under Airtel Play branding because airtelplay.com and airtelplay.in domains are registered by Bharti Airtel Limited.

It's just a guess based on these findings, no confirmation yet.

They should provide more bandwidth and speeds (atleast 50 mbps) for iptv packs.

This is most likely for rebranding of Tata Play into Airtel Play once acquisition is completed
