INDORE: With police department agreeing to provide security between May 3 and May 14, Indore may get a chance to host some IPL matches.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (Bhad asked Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) whether it would be feasible to hold IPL matches between May 3 and May 14 at Holkar Stadium. Indore will go to polls on April 24.

"The BCCI sent a letter asking us to find out with local administration about police deployment during the period. MPCA then placed a request before the IG and DIG of Indore Police, who expressed their readiness to provide needful support for matches between May 3 and May 14," said association secretary Narendra Menon.

If BCCI allots IPL matches to MPCA, it would be a great opportunity for state cricket fans to enjoy IPL live after a gap of three years. Two IPL matches were held in 2011.

Kochi: While the Centre is yet to take a call on allowing the second leg of IPL in India in view of the general elections, the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has evinced interest in hosting some of the matches at the Jawaharlal Nehru International stadium here.

The BCCI has chosen the UAE and Bangladesh as overseas venues for the seventh season of the IPL, while the final leg will be held in India between May 13 and June 1 after the elections are over.

KCA President TC Mathew told reporters here that he had handed over a letter from the BCCI Secretary to Kochi Police Commissioner, enquiring about the police bandobast which can be provided during the IPL matches.

"Unofficially we discussed with state Home minister, Ramesh Chennithala and police officials and they have responded positively," he said.

The opinion of the franchisees will also be taken before finalising on Kochi as the venue. The IPL Governing council is meeting in Chennai tomorrow, Mathew said. Kochi Mayor, Tony Chammany and chairman of Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA), Venugopal have also responded positively, he added.

In Kerala, the Lok Sabha polls will be over by April 10 and the post-election scenario is also normally peaceful, which could work in the state's favour.

The stadium has a capacity to accomodate about 75,000 spectators. Kochi had hosted five IPL matches in 2011 when Kochi Strikers Kerala was one of the teams in the league.

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Wednesday approached the state government to allow it to host the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches at the picturesque Dharamsala stadium in May, an official said.

"We have requested the state to allow holding of cricket matches from May 10 to 14," HPCA spokesperson Sanjay Sharma told IANS.

He said since the Lok Sabha elections in the state would be held May 7 and the counting of votes is scheduled May 16, the matches could be played in between the two dates.

Director General of Police Sanjay Kumar said the HPCA, led by BJP MP Anurag Thakur, has given a tentative schedule of the matches so far.

"The SP (Superintendent of Police) concerned will take a call on this," he told reporters.

Sources said HPCA officials have met state government functionaries, including Kumar, regarding security for the matches but they were non-committal.

"The HPCA functionaries were told to get a clearance first from the union home ministry and the Election Commission and then approach the state," said an official, who didn`t wish to be identified.

A senior HPCA office-bearer said the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is keen to hold five IPL matches in Dharamsala.

"We are trying to get permission to host two matches between May 10 and 14 and three matches after the vote counting date (May 16)," said the office-bearer.

The showpiece Dharamsala stadium, 250 km from the state capital Shimla, has a 21,600-seating capacity besides a world class indoor stadium comprising video analysis facilities for both bowlers and players, a club lounge, restaurant, bar and banquet hall.

The popularity of the venue soared after the nine IPL matches in the past four seasons.
