Dhoni disappointed with losing streak

Chennai Super Kings lost their third successive match in the IPL on Thursday night and captain MS Dhoni was an unhappy man after the team failed to defend 185 for 3 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Ranchi.

"I think it's something that we have to end [the losing streak]. Some of the surfaces we have played have been very good for batting. We've lost those matches easily and that's a bit of a worry," Dhoni said in the post-match presentation.

"One-Eighty was a decent score, maybe a bit under par. One-ninety or 195 would have been better. We didn't get wickets with the new ball either and that put extra pressure," he added.

CSK's previous two defeats came against against Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore but despite their listless show of late their place in the play-offs is secured with eight wins and five losses in all.

SRH opener David Warner, who made a 45-ball 90 as the visitors reached the target with two balls to go with Shikhar Dhawan (64 not out) also playing an important innings, was satisfied after taking his team to its second successive win, sixth all told. Warner had also scored a match-winning 59 against RCB in the last match.

"The most important thing is that we won. Credit to Shikhar for back to back fifties. It was good to see him score runs," he said.

"I love batting at the top of the order, I enjoyed steadying the ship as well. Then the coach came up and asked me to open. I was trying to chase [David] Miller and [Glenn] Maxwell there [when asked about the switch hit]. They hit it long."

SRH captain Darren Sammy, who was put in charge of the team two matches ago, said he was keeping his fingers crossed over their play-off chances. Not only the team has to win its last game against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday but at the same time also needs the other results to go its way.

"We have risen to the challenge. It was good that we bowled first. We just want to control what we can. Credit to Warner and Dhawan for the way they went after the bowlers. We just hope that all the things go in our favour."
