Australian batsman David Hussey was today given the nod to play for Chennai Super Kings in place of the injured Dwayne Bravo by the IPL technical committee. The Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led side had already signed Hussey in the Chennai squad a couple of days back with the Aussie joining the team soon after as he was in India as an IPL commentator for the host broadcaster.

The 36-year-old, who has played 69 ODIs and 39 T20s for the Kangaroos, has plenty of IPL experience, having featured in 23 matches for Kolkata Knight Riders and 36 matches for Kings XI Punjab in previous seasons. David’s elder brother Michael Hussey was one of Chennai’s finest overseas players, scoring 1691 runs in 46 games between 2008 to 2013.

West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo was ruled out of the tournament after injuring his shoulder while fielding against Kings XI Punjab during the teams’ first match in in the UAE. There have quite a few injuries in this edition of the IPL with the technical committee approving all the requested replacements of the respective franchises.

Uttar Pradesh medium-pacer Praveen Kumar recently joined Mumbai Indians after Zaheer Khan bowed out with an injury while South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir was bought by Delhi as Nathan Coulter-Nile’s replacement. Earlier Nic Maddinson of Royal Challengers Bangalore also opted out due a hamstring injury with Proteas batsman Rilee Rossouw beind added to the squad.

Chennai Super Kings' New Recruit David Hussey Hoping to Fill in for Brendon McCullum

Australian batsman David Hussey is likely to get a chance to play for Chennai Super Kings on May 22 and 24 in the Indian Premier League 2014 when New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum returns home for the birth of his child. Hussey was picked as a replacement for injured all-rounder Dwayne Bravo by Chennai Super Kings.

"The talk started a while ago, actually, with Dwayne Bravo having a sore shoulder," Hussey told iplt20.com referring to Chennai's move to include him in the squad.

The Australian T20 star arrived in India recently to honour a commentary commitment for the host broadcasters of the IPL.

"Stephen Fleming (CSK coach) rang me and asked if I would be interested in playing. I was lucky enough to be here commentating, and now, I can't wait to play. I have sort of spoken to Fleming and he said that I will be a middle-order player, and with Brendon McCullum due to go home for the birth of his baby, I'll definitely get an opportunity to play," Hussey said.

David's elder brother Michael Hussey was one of Chennai's finest overseas players, scoring 1691 runs in 46 games between 2008 to 2013, but the southpaw was not retained by the two-time champions, for inexplicable reasons.

In fact, Michael was taken by surprise, when he was told on-air that his younger brother would join his former team.

West Indies all-rounder Bravo was ruled out of the tournament after injuring his shoulder while fielding against Kings XI Punjab during the teams' first match in in the UAE.

There have been a few injuries in this edition of the IPL with the technical committee approving all the requested replacements of the respective franchises.

Uttar Pradesh medium-pacer Praveen Kumar recently joined Mumbai Indians after Zaheer Khan bowed out with an injury while South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir was bought by the Delhi Daredevils as Nathan Coulter-Nile's replacement.

Earlier Nic Maddinson of Royal Challengers Bangalore also opted out due a hamstring injury with Proteas batsman Rilee Rossouw beind added to the squad.

The 36-year-old David has played for Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab since 2008 and has appeared in 59 matches, scoring 1026 runs at an average of 25.65.

Indian Premier League 2014 Final to Stay in Bangalore Despite Mumbai Cricket Association's Plea

Mumbai: Mumbai Cricket Association's promise to comply with all the conditions notwithstanding, the Indian Premier League's Governing Council has decided that the June 1 final of the T20 tournament would be held in Bangalore as announced earlier.

"The GC had a conference call last night and after a lot of deliberation among the members it was unanimously decided to stick to our earlier decision, that is to play the final in Bangalore," BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel told PTI from Baroda on Sunday morning.

"One of the main reasons is we don't have time till Monday or Tuesday as a lot of preparations are needed to hold it," said Patel.

Other BCCI sources indicated that though MCA had written to the IPL GC that it would meet all the demands, a written permission from Mumbai police to allow bursting of fire crackers past 10 pm was not provided.

MCA secretary Nitin Dalal told PTI that this permission would have been obtained in the coming week.

"We had accepted all the demands. (Sharad) Pawar saheb would have got this permission this week," said Dalal, who said he was not aware of the IPL GC's decision to keep the final in Bangalore.

Mumbai Indians are to play two home games at Wankhede on May 23 and 25 while Qualifier 2 on May 30 is also scheduled there.

The Eliminator game of May 28 is to be held at the nearby Cricket Club of India's Brabourne Stadium.

MCA had on Thursday said it was even ready to lift the ban on the entry of Bollywood star and Kolkata Knight Riders' owner Shah Rukh Khan into the Wankhede stadium if the final is shifted back, as per the conditions.

Shah Rukh was banned from the Wankhede for five years in 2012 following an ugly spat with MCA officials and security personnel. MCA vice president Ravi Savant had said the actor would be allowed into the stadium only for the final and not any other game.

Savant had said that MCA had accepted all the 14 demands put forward by the IPL's governing council to stage the match.

"We had received a letter from IPL chairman Ranjib Biswal, dated May 13, and there were as many as 14 conditions. We have decided to accept all the conditions because the MCA president (Sharad Pawar) desired that the match should be played in Mumbai only and we hope that our decision will change the heart of the governing council and the match will be played in Mumbai," Savant had said.

So MCA lost the final...
So here also sharad pawar's magic is not working...
