Heinrich Klaasen, the 27-year old South Africa wicket-keeper batsman could be a replacement for Australian Steven Smith in the Rajasthan Royals squad for the 2018 season. According to top sources in BCCI, the Rajasthan franchisee has suggested Klaasen’s name while Sunrisers Hyderbad have shown interest to sign Sri Lankan cricketer Kusal Perera as replacement for David Warner.

Regulatory hurdles prompt Star to telecast IPL's Kannada feed on Star Suvarna Plus

Star India’s attempts at securing an exclusive sports channel for its Kannada viewers is unlikely to see the light of day this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The launch of Star Sports 1 Kannada has presumably been put on hold due to regulatory hurdles and, instead, the Kannada feed of the IPL 2018 matches will be broadcast on Star Suvarna Plus.

Star India had applied for a name and logo change application to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) to launch Star Sports 1 Kannada in place of Channel V. Since the approval has not yet been granted, the broadcaster has announced that Star Suvarna Plus as the destination for the Kannada coverage of matches.

It was earlier reported that Ranveer Singh who is riding high on the success of his epic film “Padmaavat” has been offered a sum of Rs 5 crore to perform for 15 minutes in the opening ceremony, making him the highest-paid entertainer during the cricket league. However, it is now reported that not Ranveer Singh but Varun Dhawan is being offered the highest sum to perform -- a staggering Rs 6 crore for the opening ceremony.

Samsung joins Mumbai Indians as lead sponsor

Mukesh Ambani-owned Mumbai Indians, the most successful franchise of the Indian premier League (IPL), has signed Samsung as its lead sponsor for the next three years, replacing Videocon.

The deal with Samsung is worth about Rs 25 crore per year, according to sources. Mumbai Indians (MI) is the only team in the league that has won the IPL three times and 100 T20 matches. This, sources say, has helped drive its brand value.
