While the specifics of the discussion remain undisclosed, Cricbuzz understands that the meeting was centred around the team composition and the potential retention of Rahul. Whether the franchise will be able to retain the India wicketkeeper-batter will be known soon but the fact that Rahul called on the owner could be a pointer to it. Neither side was immediately available for a comment.

Rahul's visit comes amid news of the franchise's plans to bring in Zaheer Khan as a mentor, a development first reported by Cricbuzz on August 19. The appointment of the former India pacer as the mentor is expected to be confirmed soon, with Zaheer likely to work alongside Justin Langer, who will continue in his role as head coach.

So this puts an end to all the rumours about him leaving LSG which makes me very sad as an RCB fan😭😭
Apparently:

"Yes, Rahul came to Kolkata and met Dr Goenka at RPG head office. He has clearly told Dr Goenka that he wants to be retained. However, till BCCI comes up with retention policy, LSG management wouldn't want to chalk out their plans," an IPL Governing Council member, privy to developments in LSG, told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

"Look, Rahul wants retention but till LSG knows how many are to be retained and what's the new purse, they can't commit anyone," the IPL source said.

There's still hopes...

ESPNcricinfo has learned that Dravid recently signed a deal with the franchise and has had initial conversations on player retentions ahead of the upcoming mega auction.

It is understood RR are also likely to sign former India batter Vikram Rathour as one of Dravid's assistant coaches.

Hopefully Sanga will also stay with RR
Sanga was in talks with England for white ball role. But now Brendon as a white ball coach as well, meaning Sanga will stay back. It's required for Jaiswal entry in white ball cricket.
