Instagram has been hit by a widespread hacking campaign which appears to have affected hundreds of users, leaving them unable to recover their accounts.
As first reported by Mashable, increasing numbers of Instagram users are finding themselves barred from their own accounts.

Instagram has considered hiding the like count on photos, so audiences can’t see how many people have liked an individual post. An unreleased feature that would publicly hide like counts was spotted today by code hunter Jane Wong, who says the test states that Instagram wants “your followers to focus on what you share, not how many likes your posts get.” Only the person who posted a photo will be able to see the number of likes it’s received.

Bad news for users of Instagram, as apparently the site has been leaking the phone numbers and email addresses of its users for the last few months.

• The flaw made Instagram users contact info available through the source code on the website.
• It was first reported in February and patched by March, but evidence shows it had been present since at least last October.
• The info could have been easily used to create a database and it is possible it already was by an Indian marketing company called Chtrbox
