I will not put blame entirely on BCCI for not picking Samson. The guy has cult followers. But in a wrong way. Early in his career he had got chances in between MSD and Pant/Kartik/Saha. But every time he got out cheaply he had this social media followers abusing the BCCI. He himself has some really bat attitude.Took panga with Rohit/Virat.

When? He was selected for 2014 England tour, never got a game.
Played one game in 2015 Zimbabwe series.
Then only got a next chance in the 2020 NZ tour.

In this interim Pant and Saha established themselves.

When you have MS leading from front as wicketkeeper batsman, how come Samson will get chance?

Naman Ojha scored heavily that season and he was back up keeper ahead of Wriddhiman Saha and also Naman Ojha has scored in Australia I guess. So he was back up Keeper in that series and then he got chance against Srilanka in one of the tests.



So, whenever Pant was selected as a successor of MS, Samson should have tried atleast in one fo the formats. He was never tried in 2016-2019. His best format is ODI I believe. But as Kohli and Iyer was there, he would have never got chance.so this is right time to introduce him and play Rahul as pure batsman(Making Rohit and Kohli retire from ODI format).
