Lots of mistake by Captain Kohli.
* Replacing Umesh with another Yadav, Kuldeep (It should've been done in Edgbaston test). Though Ganguly was saying '
You can't have perfect XI for tests, should utilize what you have', not fully agree with him.
* Looking at Kuldeep's very first over, it was clearly a BIG mistake. He wasn't even look like a club-level bowler, looking very uncomfortable and short of confidence.
* Bowling Kuldeep in short spells.
* Bring Ashwin too late (39th Over
). C'mon man, he's your best bowling weapon. In Edgbaston, he was given new ball in both innings and created immediate pressure.
* Field placing was very poor, it's not attacking, neither defensive. May be bowlers weren't able to bowl according to field.
But when you think aggressively, you ought to make occasional mistakes.
Other than the mistakes, India was in the wrong side of nature's favor.
Rain or no rain both helped England.
Rain before India's batting made the pitch lively for England seamers.
No rain before England's batting made the life easy for England batsmen specially after initial few overs. Here both Ishant & Shami faltered in the opening 6 overs (may be they were trying too hard).
As per the weather forecast, India will be in the same situation in 3rd innings too.
