Australia will win four-Test series 4-0, predicts McGrath

SYDNEY: Pace legend Glenn McGrath foresees Australia whitewashing India 4-0 in the ongoing Test series as he feels the home team's pace bowling attack, especially the young James Pattinson, gives it a decisive edge over the visitors.

"Yesterday, I said 3-0 but I stuffed up because I thought there were only three Tests. But definitely 4-0 now," said McGrath at the SCG where he was promoting McGrath Foundation for breast cancer.

"The way the guys have played at the moment I've been very impressed. I think a team builds itself around a bowling attack and you look at the bowling attack the team has at the moment.

"It will give the rest of the guys a lot of confidence so I'm very confident, as confident as I've been in years that this team is something special and expecting big things from them too," he added.

McGrath had words of praise for pace bowling sensation James Pattinson.

"I've been very impressed to look at James, the way he comes on to bowl. He's big, he's strong and he's nice and tall.

"He has a good action, he bowls in great areas and got good pace and a great attitude. I've really enjoyed watching him bowl and getting stuck into the Indian batsmen," he said.

Pattinson was man of the match at the MCG for his seven wickets and unbeaten knocks of 18 and 37 in two innings. Above all, he breathed fire and bowled with aggression at the Indians.

"Definitely, it's all about attitude and we're fast bowlers at the end of the day. You don't bowl half volleys and skip around the park smiling at batsmen, do you?" said McGrath.

McGrath impressed by pacer Umesh Yadav's attitude

Australia pace legend Glenn McGrath was at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) here yesterday to meet the teams during their pre-Test net sessions. All the players sported pink caps as part of a charity event to aid the McGrath Foundation which raises money to place Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia.

The SCG will once again turn pink on Day Three of the Test (January 5), the stumps and bat handles will be pink and spectators will be encouraged to wear pink bandanas to help raise money for the charity. The SCG Trust has renamed Day Three of the annual Test as the 'Jane McGrath Day', in honour of McGrath's late wife.
The New South Welshman spoke to MiD DAY yesterday.

Sir Donald Bradman scored his 100th first-class century at the SCG against India in 1947-48. We are here now for the 100th Test at SCG and Sachin Tendulkar could get his 100th international century -- a ground which he rates his favourite outside India. Is it too good to be true?

Gee, I didn't even know about that. It's a beautiful thing. How these things work. It's magical. I love Sachin, he's a special man, a special talent but I would rather hope that it (the 100th ton) doesn't happen at the SCG. I want him to score that 100th hundred, but I am hoping it's after this tour. But it's definitely going to be a special occasion, and a celebration of cricket.

Umesh Yadav is a huge admirer of yours. Before leaving for Australia, he said that he wanted to meet you and learn a thing or two about fast bowling. What do you make of the kid?

He was quite impressive (at the MCG). He bowls at good pace. He seems to have a great attitude and most importantly, he's a wicket-taking bowler. Perhaps, the direction and control are not there quite yet, but it's not far away. He's got that raw talent, good pace and can generate good bounce. He's got a lot going for him at the moment. He definitely impressed me a lot down at Melbourne. I look forward to seeing him bowl again.

I am reay for Test debut: Rohit Sharma

Mumbai lad Sharma says his preparation is 100 per cent to be part of India's Playing XI in tomorrow's Sydney Test

There are increasing calls for Rohit Sharma to replace Virat Kohli in India's XI for the second Test here at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) starting tomorrow. Rohit would have made his Test debut against South Africa in February 2010 if it wasn't for a freak injury on the eve of the match.

The likes of Tony Greig and Ian Chappell called for Rohit's inclusion after Kohli's twin failure (11 & 0) at Melbourne last week. When asked if the management had informed him of a potential debut, Rohit said, "As far as the team combination is concerned, we have not decided anything yet.

Maybe tomorrow (Monday) we will have a better idea as to what the wicket will be like, and take those decisions. Probably by tomorrow I will be told whether I am going to play or not," he told reporters yesterday.
