China houses the largest chunk of smartphone manufacturers in the world and it just added a new name in the list. BBK Electronics, the main investors in some of China’s biggest handset makers has just given out a teaser of a new brand called imoo.
BBK Electronics markets smartphones under brands like Vivo, Oppo and OnePlus as well as Blu-ray Disc players, headphones and headphone amplifiers under the Oppo Digital division. The company has been selling consumer electronics in China since decades and used to make NES gaming console clones but later switched to the smartphone industry to create some of the well known brands from the country. The company also makes educational products including toys for children.
The upcoming brand imoo could see BBK combining the best of both of its expertise including what they have learned from making electronic educational toys and smartphones to build the world’s first educational smartphone.
At this time there isn’t a lot of information available but only a banner with a slim golden smartphone that is creating a ‘plus’ symbol, could be easily imoo’s logo. The new smartphone also shows a SIM card tray and a peculiar looking button which could be used for dedicated video recording. The smartphone brand could be a China exclusive and eventually be rolled out for the rest of the world. Stay tuned for more updates as it develops.
