Rishabh Pant slammed the fastest
fifty in Under-19 World Cup history, off
18 balls, as India cantered to a
comprehensive seven-wicket win over
Nepal at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium
on Monday (February 1) to finish top of
the Group D table with three wins
from three games.
Chasing just 170 in 48 overs after
Avesh Khan (3 for 34) led India's way
on the field again, Pant treated nervy
Nepal pacers with absolute disdain,
reminiscent of his hero Adam
Gilchrist's approach for Australia in
the 2000s. The sight of a batsman
going down on one knee and whacking
a fast bowler over deep mid-wicket
might still be a rare sight at the
Under-19 level but that didn't deter
Pant's intentions when he did so off
