Zimbabwe suffer triple injury blow ahead of T20 WC

Injuries forced Zimbabwe to make
changes to their T20 WC squad
Zimbabwe were forced to make three
changes to their T20 WC squad at the
last minute due to injuries. Graeme
Cremer, the leg-spinner, fast bowlers
Luke Jongwe and Neville Madziva, all
suffered injuries during the practice
matches in the UAE. They have been
replaced by Chamu Chibhabha, the all-
rounder, and fast bowlers Tawanda
Mupariwa and Donald Tiripano.

While Madziva injured his right thumb
against West Indies in the first practice
match, Cremer fractured his left
forearm in the same game. Jongwe
suffered an injury to his right eye after
getting hit while attempting a catch.
He has been advised to rest for three
to four weeks by a neurosurgeon.
While Tiripano and Chibhabha's last
appearances for Zimbabwe came in
January against Afghanistan,

Pakistan Likely to Recall Opener Ahmed Shehzad for World T20

Pakistan opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad is likely to be recalled in the national squad for next week’s World Twenty20 in India, following a complete failure of the top-order in the ongoing Asia Cup.

Earlier, the 24-year-old was dropped for the Asia Cup and World T20 due to his inconsistency, but a strong comeback in the recently held Pakistan Super League has put the explosive batsman back in contention for selection.

Selectors were forced to rethink their decision after top-order batsmen, especially Khurram Manzoor struggled to get a good start for Pakistan in the Asia Cup.

According to the Express Tribune, a PCB official said that Ahmed had been asked to submit his passport for the World T20, adding that the batsman’s inclusion in the T20 format’s pinnacle event will be made official soon.

Pakistan were dumped out of the Asia Cup after suffering a five-wicket loss to Bangladesh on Wednesday. The hosts will now face India in the summit clash on Sunday.

Shehzad remains just 59 runs short of completing 1,000 runs in the T20 format.
