How is the Jio fiber FTTH service right now like in terms of downtime and pings. I'm planning for a shift into this ISP or should I go with local providers?

JioFiber prepaid plans for new acquisition have been stopped. So he is signing you up for postpaid plan, I guess.

In JioFiber prepaid, they charge Rs.1000 (for installation - non-refundable) + Rs.500 (for device security - refundable on disconnection) for internet-only connection. The total connection amount becomes Rs.2500 for ONT + STB prepaid connection.

No, Rs. 500 is refundable out of Rs. 1500 on disconnection if you take the internet only plan. The rest Rs. 1000 is installation charges.

For JioFiber prepaid, Rs. 1000 is charged for STB and it's refundable on disconnection.
