To make purchasing school stationary hassle free, 32-year-old Swarnali Singh a resident of Nepania, Indore, has launched a site 'Schoolahead.com' where students and their parents can purchase school stationary online.

Banker-turned-homemaker Swarnali told TOI that she, along with her team, started this website to provide convenient and hassle-free experience to students and parents for their 'Back to School' shopping needs.

"Going back to school should be fun, not only for students but their parents as well. Schoolahead.com was launched in March to build an entire online ecosystem wherein book sellers can register and sell to a wider customer base, while parents and students can order their school books and supplies online and relax."

Swarnali said the idea struck when she saw her friends and neighbors laboring hard in the summer heat to buy 'back-to-school supplies' (mainly books and stationery) for their kids. "I thought when everything from a pin to a pizza can be home delivered today, why do people still have to scout so hard for purchasing school books? Why can't school supplies be delivered right at their doorstep?" she said.

"I realized that, since there are many schools that have their different recommended booklists and there are thousands of publishers with various titles, it is practically impossible for us to keep stock of every single book," she explained.

So, she decided to start a niche online marketplace where booksellers would register themselves for free and sell to a wider customer base across the country. "This way website would have a very large collection of school books and titles, and any child of any school can find the books they need right here," she added.
