Haj stampede: At least 717 pilgrims killed, 805 injured near Mecca

At least 717 pilgrims were killed on Thursday in a stampede at Mina, outside the Muslim holy city of Mecca, where some two million people are performing the annual haj pilgrimage, Saudi Arabia’s al-Ekhbariya television reported.
Civil defence officials have said that 805 people were injured in the incident.
