The department of telecommunications (DoT) will soon come out with a mechanism which would enable a caller’s name to flash on the screen when someone calls. The name would be as per the know-your-customer (KYC) record of subscribers with the telecom operators.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) chairman PD Vaghela told FE that a consultation paper on this would be floated soon to seek stakeholders’ comments, as the department has received a reference to this effect from the DoT.

Coming soon: Caller’s name as per KYC record to flash on phone screen

every few weeks/months

some of best and widely used app/product service is being replaced by dominant, but lagging contestant.

like torch/ipad etc replaced by mobile

laptop/computer to some extent by 6inch smartphones
sms by whatsapp/telegram

and now is on the way truecaller by trai app.

It will be an issue for ppl whose numbers are registered in another family member's name and have been passed on to them. The operators should be directed to allow change of ownership with sufficient documentation and re-Kyc.

Yes I was telling this many times on social media and in our forum that if parents bought their kid a new sim Card they must be on joint KYC. After kids turns adult automatically sim get transferred to them.
Also, they should introduce NOC for mobile operator which should be sign at company's service centre with click of photo of both the parties.
