https://mib.gov.in/sites/default/files/notice for extension upto 15 Jan 2019.pdfDate extended again till 15th January 2019...
75% of the revenue earned by DD for this feed goes to the original rights holder only. There are people who won't watch just because Star sports costs Rs.50, so it would benefit them. (But now, if new TRAI rules are implemented properly, most can get Star sports at a cheaper price)The Govt. is seeking equal amount of viewership for DD Sports compared to the original rights holders, Citing public Interests. I personally feel these broadcasts should be restricted to DD Freedish and DTT, Since Prasar Bharati doesn't need to pay anything to acquire any of these rights.
I Spoke about viewership, about the revenue that DD Earns. even a rupee earned by them is undeserving because they don't even need to pay even a rupee to get these broadcasts.75% of the revenue earned by DD for this feed goes to the original rights holder only
Do you have any details whether after implementation of the new TRAI rule the ones subscribed to BST will get DD Sports during live telecast or sporting events? What if one doesn't want to subscribe to Star or Ten.I Spoke about viewership, about the revenue that DD Earns. even a rupee earned by them is undeserving because they don't even need to pay even a rupee to get these broadcasts.
The current arrangement Permits DD to carry these signals on DD Terrestrial and DD Freedish, that's acceptable, but on Pay TV, where the original rights holder's channels are available, it should be consumer choice whether to go for the channels or not, What DD is seeking is diversion of viewership, it's like someone else would buy the rights and DD want's to enjoy freebies, that to without giving any due credit to the original rights holder.
With the new TRAI Rule coming in, as it is 25 DD Channels are mandatory, irrespective of the Tariff regime, as per the Honorable Supreme Court verdict, Prasar bharati cannot share their feed of Sporting events of national importance with Pay TV operators, So irrespective our subscription to Star, Sony or any other rights holder, DD Sports is supposed to be blacked out during the telecast of these events.Do you have any details whether after implementation of the new TRAI rule the ones subscribed to BST will get DD Sports during live telecast or sporting events?
