Samsung too started giving this adapter with the Galaxy S7.

One of the feature in pixel is unlimited storage on Google photos at original quality including 4k videos, so you'll never run out of storage. It'll automatically maintain the storage by continuously cleaning up the backed up pictures and videos. So, storage shouldn't be a problem.

Google Explains Why Pixel Smartphone Cameras Don't Have OIS...

The first Google-branded smartphones - the Pixel and Pixel XL - were unveiled earlier this month. Even though the search giant has marketed the smartphones to have the best camera modules on any smartphone, it did not offer the functionality of optical image stabilisation, which has become quite common for premium-end smartphones. Now, a representative from the company has explained the reason behind dropping this feature.
On Pixel's dedicated forum, Google's employee with user name IsaacOnCamera has explained why the company decided it did not require OIS for low-light photography, and that the company still used EIS for video. While the representative did not mention the large 1.55-micron (rear) and 1.4-micron (front) pixel size of the smartphone's camera sensors, it undoubtedly helps in low-light conditions.

IsaacOnCamera has explained how OIS helps the smartphones in clicking still pictures in conditions of low light. "It compensates for hand shake, allowing longer exposures in low light, but this in turn increases motion blur within the frame. And it comes with all kinds of tradeoffs, starting off with its physical size (meaning it would be harder to produce the slim/small device that Pixel is," he said regarding optical image stabilisation in his note. In comparison, the Pixel smartphones use their world-class software algorithm, notably HDR+, to produce excellent pictures.
The Pixel smartphones make use of EIS to improve the "shaky video by maintaining a consistent framing between multiple video frames," he said. According to IsaacOnCamera, the Pixel smartphones are able to take "best low-light photos you'll find on any smartphone" without the presence of OIS.
He further pointed out that unlike Nexus 6P, where EIS was not supported at 4K resolution, the feature supports 4K in Pixel smartphones.

Every time a new company launches a smartphone in India, one of the first questions invariably is about after-sales service. It is no different with the upcoming Google Pixel smartphones as well. According to a new report, Google is said to be tying up with HTC to offer after-sales service in India. The company will also piggyback on HTC’s retail network to sell its upcoming smartphones in the country. Google had reportedly enlisted HTC’s services to manufacture the Pixel smartphones, though the company never officially confirmed it. The partnership with HTC for after-sales service is probably the only official hint about who manufactured the device.

Google will reportedly use HTC’s network to offer after-sales service in 30 cities across India, and will also leverage over 1,000 retail outlets to sell its Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones in the country. “We have partnered with HTC India for after-sales service in 56 walk-in service centres in over 30 cities,” a Google spokesperson told ET. “Redington India is our national distributor for all channels in India.” The spokesperson also said that the company would have a toll-free customer care number to handle all customer queries. During the launch event, Google had revealed that its new Pixel smartphones would be available online via Flipkart, and offline via chains like Croma, Reliance Digital, Vijay Sales, Jumbo, and Sangeetha Mobiles among others. Pre-orders for the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones are set to kick off tomorrow on Flipkart, and deliveries are expected to start by month-end.

With the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 unlikely to launch in India, Google’s Pixel and Pixel XL are the only real competitors to the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus . Both companies will be looking at making the most of the upcoming festive season, and the ensuing shopping frenzy. It seems like a smart move by Google to leverage HTC’s retail and after-sales network that has been in the India for a long time now. It however remains to be seen if Google can have enough devices available in time to cater to the high demand during the festive season.

Google Pixel, Pixel XL price in India

Prices for the Pixel smartphone start from Rs 57,000 for the 32GB variant, and go up to Rs 66,000 for the 128GB. The Pixel XL, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 67,000 for the 32GB variant, and Rs 76,000 for the 128GB variant. Both smartphones will be available in two color variants — Quite Black, Very Silver. The Really Blue color variant is expected to be launched at a later date.

Google Pixel, Pixel XL specifications

The Google Pixel sports a 5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) AMOLED display, while the Google Pixel XL sports a slightly larger 5.5-inch QHD (1440x2560pixels) AMOLED display. Both displays have a 2.5D curved glass on top and are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Just like Apple, Google has opted for a same set of specifications on both the Pixel smartphones. Apart from the size, the only difference though is the size of the battery — 2,770mAh on the Pixel, and 3,450mAh on Pixel XL. The battery on the Pixel is said to be good enough for up to 26 hours of talktime, and up to 19 days on standby mode. The battery on the Pixel XL, on the other hand, is said to be good enough for up to 32 hours of talktime and up to 23 days on standby mode.

Both devices are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM. On the photography front, the smartphones are equipped with a 12.3-megapixel rear snapper with f/2.0 aperture, 1.55μm pixels, PDAF and laser auto-focus. The rear camera also supports 4K video recording. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel fixed-focus selfie camera with f/2.4 aperture and 1.4µm pixels.

The smartphones also feature a fingerprint scanner placed at the back, and IP53 certification that makes them resistant to water and dust to an extent. Connectivity options include 4G LTE support, USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and NFC.

On the software front, both smartphones run on Android Nougat 7.1 out-of-the-box wrapped under the Pixel UI. One of the highlights of the new smartphones is the built-in Google Assistant, which is the company’s take on Siri and Alexa. It is more capable than Google Now, and is more contextually aware about what’s happening on your smartphone. One can simply converse with the AI and ask questions like weather, distance from one place to the other, or route from source to destination, and more.

Google ties up with HTC to provide after-sales service for Pixel, Pixel XL smartphones in India: Report

Google’s strategy shift is in full gear with its new devices – Pixel and Pixel XL. Model Price

32GB Google Pixel Rs 57000
128GB Google Pixel Rs 66000
128GB Google Pixel XL Rs 76000

Flipkart is offering ‘no cost EMIs’ which means you pay in EMI without the need to pay additional amount. First 1000 customers will get EGV (electronics gift voucher) worth Rs 5,700.

The company has opened the exchange offer that will let you get a discount of up to Rs 27,000. This means the starting price of the device would be around Rs 30,000. First 1000 customers will also get EGV worth Rs 5,700. Free delivery till 25 October.

All in all, the deals by Flipkart don’t really add much to make it an exciting offer.

In terms of specs, the Pixel will offer a 5-inch full HD AMOLED display while the Pixel XL gets a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display. The former gets a 2,770mAH battery will the larger one gets a 3,450mAH battery both of which support fast charge that is capable of providing 7-hours of battery in 15 minutes of charge.

Google Pixel, Pixel XL smartphones don't have OIS and rely on EIS for better low-light photos, says the company.

Google Pixel, Pixel XL cameras don’t have OIS, and instead rely on EIS.
Google Pixel, Pixel XL smartphones will be up for pre-orders in India from tomorrow, October 13, and come with a premium price tag. The Pixel starts at Rs 57,000 and goes up all the way to Rs 76,000 for the 128GB version of the Pixel XL. Google has been touting various features of the Pixel series to showcase the premium bit, and camera is one such aspect

Google claims this is the best smartphone camera ever made; better than the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 edge series. Interestingly both smartphone cameras don’t have OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and now Google has given an explanation on why they opted for this

In a post on the Google Product forum, where someone asked about why the company had gone with EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) instead of OIS, an employee named IsaacOnCamera has come forth with an explanation

His post says, “EIS and OIS have very different goals, so you can’t compare them to ask which is better/worse. OIS primarily improves low light photography by physically compensating for hand shake within each single frame, and EIS improves shaky video by maintaining a consistent framing between multiple video frames.” He adds EIS is used only for video, while OIS is for still photos and helps with low-light photos by compensating for the hand shake while allowing longer exposures

According to the post though, OIS comes with “all kinds of tradeoffs,” including the size, and thus it would have been hard for Google to create a slim Pixel device with OIS in the camera

The post says Google is relying on “its world-class software algorithms, notably HDR+,” to make up for the lack of OIS in low-light shots, and the phone will get better over time since it is dependent on software, rather than hardware

Google Pixel also supports EIS in 4K resolution video, which was previously not supported in the Nexus 6P

Google Pixel, Pixel XL phones will be up for pre-order on Flipkart from October 13. Pixel XL has a bigger 5.5-inch QHD display, while the Pixel has a 5-inch full HD display. Both phones run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 64-bit processor along with 4GB RAM and will come in 32 and 128GB storage version. Google is also offering Pixel users unlimited storage space for all their photos on the cloud; all photos and video will stored at full resolution in the Google Photos app

Google Pixel, Pixel XL phones run Android Nougat 7.1 and come with the new Pixel launcher which starts the Google Assistant when a user long-presses the on-screen Home Button

Google Assistant is the new smart assistant from the company, which can start off a conversation with the user, keep a track of their appointments, alarms, meetings, etc. Google hopes to expand Assistant to do a lot more, including support for third-party apps like Uber. But it looks like Google plans to keep Assistant as Pixel exclusive for sometime

We’ll have to wait and see if Google Pixel, Pixel XL smartphones live up to the hype and are able to beat the iPhone 7 Plus and S7 edge camera when it comes to performance

Pre-orders for Google’s new Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones kicked off on Flipkart and Croma’s online store earlier this month. Prices for the smartphones start from Rs 57,000 and go up to Rs 76,000 for the top-end variant. Flipkart is currently offering various deals for buyers, including exchange offers, no cost EMI and cashback offers for card users. But if you are among those who prefer getting some hands-on time with a phone before buying it, there’s some good news. Google India has announced that both the Pixel smartphones will be available at stores from October 25.

Google revealed the date on its Twitter account with a tweet that read, “The future is exciting. And by future we mean 3 days from now. #Pixel will start reaching stores on 25th October #madebygoogle.” At the launch event in San Francisco earlier this month, Google had revealed that along with online partners, the new Pixel smartphones will also be available via offline retail chains like Reliance Digital, Vijay Sales, Croma and Jumbo among others. For those wondering, recent reports have claimed that Google has tied up with HTC (the manufacturer of the Pixel smartphones) to provide after-sales service for the Pixel smartphones in India.

The timing of the launch couldn’t have been any better for Google, as the last week before Diwali is when festive shopping fever is at its all-time high. With Apple’s iPhone 7 and
iPhone 7 Plus not widely available in India, and the failure of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 , Google’s new smartphones are seen as the only other competitor at the premium mobile segment. The reviews of Pixel smartphones are quite positive, but the overall verdict seems to have divided the tech reviewer community. That said, there is no denying that Google’s smartphones are the closest Android has come to match Apple’s iPhones in every aspect.

Google Pixel, Pixel XL specifications

The Google Pixel sports a 5-inch 1080p display, while the Google Pixel XL sports a 5.5-inch QHD display. Both AMOLED displays have a 2.5D curved glass on top, and are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Apart from size, the smartphones are differentiated on the basis of their battery — the Pixel sports a 2,770mAh battery, and the Pixel XL sports a 3,450mAh battery. The rest of the specifications and features remain the same.

Both smartphones are powered by a Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM. They are equipped with a 12.3-megapixel rear snapper with PDAF, laser auto-focus, and 4K video recording support. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel fixed-focus selfie camera.
