Google testing UPI to onboard offline retailers on Google Pay
Google Pay is testing UPI based transactions with unspecified point-of-sale (POS) providers to onboard retail merchants, reports the Economic Times. Currently, Google is running small scale pilots with retail stores, to rollout over the next few months, and gain momentum in this market, the report added. Google did not specify which cities it is testing this in.

How is Google’s GPay operating without authorisation: Delhi HC asks RBI

The petitioner has sought direction to the RBI to stop Google Pay operation in India.

He has requested the court to impose penalties on the Google India Digital Services Private Limited for doing unauthorized operation in India.

Google Pay is doing unauthorized operation in India as per the Payment and Settlement Systems in defiance of the Section 4 sub section 1 of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, published by the Reserve Bank of India on March 20, 2019.

At the IO19 developers’ conference in San Francisco last week, Avnish Miduthuri, product manager at Google, announced that the tech giant is not only working on adding a number of places where Google Pay will work but is also working on increasing the ways of paying through the app.
