Google is refreshing its Meet user interface next month for desktop and laptop users. The new Meet for web interface includes improvements to video feeds, how you view or present meetings, and the navigation bar. While some of Google’s changes are playing catch-up to what’s offered in Zoom or Microsoft Teams, they are much-needed additions.

“Calls with 3 or more participants” are limited to 60 minutes.

At 55 minutes, everyone gets a notification that the call is about to end. To extend the call, the host can upgrade their Google account. Otherwise, the call will end at 60 minutes.

That said, one-on-one calls can continue to run for up to 24 hours on free and enterprise accounts.

Google started to roll out an updated video calling experience in Google Meet that includes a new look and features to help you stay even more connected with anyone you’re chatting with — from friends and family to classmates and co-workers. With these updates, you can access advanced features more easily, use emoji reactions, and try on-the-go mode, all while enjoying a consistent experience across video calls and scheduled meetings in Meet.
