Sri Lanka to host World XI in charity T20 - Cricbuzz

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) will host a charity match between World XI and Sri Lanka XI on September 8 in a Twenty20 match scheduled to be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium, SLC sources told Cricbuzz.

The match that will be played two days after the one off T20I between Sri Lanka and India, will feature a host of present and retired overseas stars.

"The negotiations are going on with the overseas players and we will be able to confirm the names soon," the SLC source told Cricbuzz.

The funds collected from the game will proceed towards the victims of the recent flood and the patients suffering from the chronic kidney disease that has caused more than 20,000 deaths in the last 20 years.

The Sri Lanka XI will comprise a mixture of current and former players.

The BCCI CEO Rahul Johri on Sunday confirmed that India will travel to South Africa for a full tour early next year.

With Sri Lanka scheduled to play a return tour to India in November-December, which is part of the ICC future tour program, there were some doubts over the Indian team's visit to South Africa.

"The South Africa tour is on. There is some back and forth on dates, but it will be a full tour and that has been locked in," Johri told PTI.

'If Dhoni is not delivering, we will have to look at alternatives' - MSK Prasad

MS Dhoni is not an automatic selection in ODIs anymore. A day after India announced the squad for Sri Lanka, leaving out Yuvraj Singh, chairman of selectors MSK Prasad was asked if Dhoni was a natural pick, if the name rolled off naturally as it used to: "Virat, MSD…"

"Whenever a player keeps ageing," Prasad's reply began. "I was just reading [Andre] Agassi's book, Open, his life actually started after 30 years. Till then he won two or three. His actual life started after that. He lived with media pressure, 'When are you going to retire?' But he played till 36 and he won so many Grand Slams. So you never know. We don't say it is an automatic this thing… but we will see. We are all stakeholders. We all want the Indian team to do well. If he is delivering, why not? If he is not, we will have to look at alternatives."
