Gautam Gambhir handed four-match suspension for altercation with coach
Delhi captain Gautam Gambhir has been handed a four first-class match ban by a committee constituted by the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) for an altercation with KP Bhaskar, the Delhi coach, during the Vijay Hazare Trophy last season. Madan Lal, Rajendra R Rathore and advocate Soni Singh, the members of the committee found Gambhir guilty and pronounced the verdict on Saturday (June 17).
Justice Vikramjit Sen, however, decided to defer the verdict for a two-year period till March 2019 if the former India opener accepts the verdict and doesn't commit any similar transgressions. "Having learnt of an incident, which occurred when the team from DDCA was in Orissa, in which an altercation between Gambhir and Bhaskar Pillai had transpired, and pursuant to a complaint received from Pillai, I met both persons on March 10, 2017. The matter could not be amicably and satisfactorily resolved," he said.
