India pace spearhead Mohammed Shami has
taken the 'first step' of his return to competitive
cricket after being out for two months with a knee injury. He has started the rehabilitation
process at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in
Bangalore, a month after undergoing surgery on
his left knee.
"Yes, I have started my rehab a few days back
at the NCA. I have started walking now and
have been doing a few exercises as advised by
my physio and the doctors. It is a long-drawn
process before I can completely attain match
fitness. I am just happy that I have taken the
first step towards my recovery," Shami told TOI
from Bangalore.
Pakistan's pace spearhead Wahab Riaz was on Friday ruled out of the rest of the Test series against Sri Lanka after suffering a hairline fracture on his bowling hand during the ongoing second Test.
Bangladesh paceman Taskin Ahmed will be out of action for at least three weeks following a rib injury, a team official said.Taskin suffered the injury on his left side during a training session on June 23 and missed the third one-day international against India on the following day.
