Now, the passengers at Pandit Nehru Bus Station can have access to free 5G Wi-Fi with 17 hotspots for 30 minutes.

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation, in association with BSNL and Quad Gen, has launched the initiative here Monday to make PNBS the first city bus stand in the country to have WiFi connectivity round-the-clock. Even the public can buy a scratch card of worth Rs 30 for additional 300 MB other than free Wi-Fi at PNBS. The Qfi brand based service will be extended to all district-level bus depots of APSRTC in the next 90 days.

“The innovative MIMO antenna technology enables the 5G Wi-Fi access from each hotspot at a high speed of 1.2 Gbps and the limit of free WiFi is 2 to 20 mbps. People can use their smart phones, tablets and laptops with this WiFi service. Nearly 400-500 people can access the WiFi services from each hotspot. Initially, we are providing 30 minutes free WiFi, which will be later reduced to 15 minutes and for additional WiFi service, people need to buy scratch cards,” said Satish Benarji, COO of Quad Gen.

Every day, as many as 2,500 buses are passing through the PNBS and more than 1.25 lakh people are utilising the APSRTC services.

“For the convenience of the passengers, we have initiated the 5G WiFi service on pilot basis and it will soon be extended to Visakhapatnam and Tirupati. We will have 50 per cent share in the revenue generated with this new service,” said APSRTC MD N Sambasiva Rao.

People who want to access the free WiFi should first connect to ‘QFI - BSNL’ named network. After opening the browser, they need to fill the required details in the complimentary login window and can continue browsing. While using the scratch card, they need to follow the same procedure till complimentary login. Later, they need to enter the code given in the card at voucher login after which the passengers will receive a One Time Password (OTP) in their mobile. Up on after entering the OTP, they can start browsing.

The people can also buy the Rs 30 voucher online, if the vouchers are not available at PNBS during night time, using net banking or credit or debit cards.
