Flipkart kicks off Big Billion Day shopping festtoday, Amazon readying counter attack

Flipkart will kick off its shopping fest today.
According to the e-retailer, the fest titled "Big
Billion Day" will provide consumers a number
of attractive shopping deals.
Flipkart, which started promoting the Big
Billion day on websites like YouTube in a big
way in the last week, has obviously created
some flutter in the Indian e-retail market. Just
a few days ago Amazon announced its 'Diwali
shopping fest', which will start on the
company's India website from October 10 to
October 16. In Amazon advertisement, which
are airing on YouTube, the company is not
mincing any words. In an attempt to woo
consumers it is saying that its fest would be
bigger than the one held by Flipkart.
Flipkart on October 5 said that its shopping x
fest would start from 8am on October 6. It
said that the following deals would be
available:
-- Multiple items at price of Re 1
-- Up to 30 per cent off on smartphones
-- Laptops starting Rs 15,000
-- Fashion at perfumes at 50 per cent off
-- Toys at 50 per cent off
The company also said that there would be
offers on its exclusive brands, including
products sold by Xiaomi, Motorola and Asus.
Also, it said that Huawei Honor 6, Alcatel
OneTouch Fire C and Lenovo Vibe Z2 would go
on sale from Monday.
