Facebook is testing a new feature that enhances your video viewing experience. The social network’s latest floating video feature will allow users to scroll through their News Feed while letting them watch the video.
The floating video feature lets users take out a video from their News Feed and put it anywhere in their browser and watch it simultaneously while continue scrolling content on the platform. You can activate the feature by clicking on a new button at the bottom-right of video embeds. When you click the icon, the video becomes movable. However, you cannot pull it out of the browser window. The floating video has play/pause button, a close button, and an option to Like or share the video. It must be noted that that floating videos will disappear if you head to another page. Unfortunately, users cannot resize the floating video window which has a bit of a downside as the original size of the window is small.
Currently, the company is testing the floating video feature for some users on desktop and not on any mobile apps. Facebook has been striving hard to change its approach towards video content. The social network introduced a new way to embed Facebook videos on websites. The company wants its user to be engaged in video related content which is essentially a new way to tap advertisers.
