Bhuvneshwar Kumar named in squad for last three England Tests

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been recalled to India's squad for the final three Test matches against England, a Board of Control for Cricket in India release stated on Tuesday (November 22). The 26-year-old seamer returns to the squad after missing the last Test against New Zealand in Indore, the following One-Day International assignment and the first two games of the England series with a back strain.
Bhuvneshwar, who took a five-wicket haul in his last Test assignment, returned to competitive action for his domestic side Uttar Pradesh against Mumbai in a Ranji Trophy clash, bowling 36 overs across two innings for his two wickets.

The MSK Prasad-led selection panel also decided not to include Gautam Gambhir and Shikhar Dhawan in the 16-man squad. The two left-handed openers are currently representing Delhi in a seventh round Ranji Trophy clash against Rajashthan in Wayanad.

Meanwhile, leg spinner Amit Mishra, who was left out of the playing eleven in Visakhapatnam for Jayant Yadav and subsequently released to play for Haryana, retains his place in the squad. Hardik Pandya and Karun Nair, too, continue to remain with the side.

India lead the five-match series 1-0 following their 246-run victory in the second Test at Visakhapatnam. The final three games of the series will be played in Mohali (November 26), Mumbai (December 8) and Chennai (December 16).

Squad for the final three Tests versus England:
Virat Kohli (c), Ajinkya Rahane (vc), Murali Vijay, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravichandran Ashwin, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Jayant Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Karun Nair, Hardik Pandya

Parthiv Patel replaces Wriddhiman Saha for third England Test

Parthiv Patel, the 31-year-old wicketkeeper batsman, is set for a Test comeback after eight years as he has been named as replacement for Wriddhiman Saha for the third Test between India and England in Mohali starting from Saturday (November 26).

"BCCI medical team confirms that India wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha developed a strain in his left thigh during the second match of the five match Paytm Test Series-2016, played against England at Visakhapatnam," a BCCI media release stated.

"As a precautionary measure, Saha has been advised rest and will not play in the next Test match of the series. Parthiv Patel will replace Saha in the Indian team for the third Test to be played from November 26, 2016, at Mohali," the release added.

Parthiv, who made his Test debut against England in 2002, was the youngest wicketkeeper in Test history at 17 years 152 days. The left-hander averages 29.69 with 683 runs, including four half-centuries in the five-day international format. His last international appearance was during an ODI against Sri Lanka in 2012.

Parthiv's inclusion in the Indian team has to do with the fact that he has been in good form in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, having scored 415 runs at an average of 59.28, including a century and three fifties in five matches.
