Stats highlights for the first ODI from Pune

33 balls taken for his fifty by Ben Stokes is the second-fastest for England against India in ODIs. The fastest belongs to Chris Old who scored a 30-ball fifty at Lord's in 1975 in what was the first ever match in World Cups.

350 for seven by England is their highest total against India in all ODIs surpassing 338/8 in the World Cup game in Bangalore in 2011. It is the seventh instance of England scoring 350-plus in 34 ODIs since the 2015 World Cup. In the 644 ODIs till then, they went past 350 just twice.

79 runs conceded by Jasprit Bumrah is the third most conceded by an Indian bowler against England in ODIs after 86 in 10 overs by Ishant Sharma in Rajkot in 2013 and 83 in 11 overs by Karsan Ghavri at Lord's in 1975.

1 Higher score for England without an individual hundred than 350 today 365 against New Zealand at the Oval in 2015, 88 by Eoin Morgan being the highest. Incidentally, that is only higher total for England in an ODI loss.

15 innings taken by Kohli is fewest by anyone to reach five ODI hundreds while leading the side. The previous least was 27 by Sourav Ganguly. Overall, he is the 13th to score five or more hundreds while leading the side.

169 Innings taken by Kohli to reach 27 ODI hundreds, 85 less than the next fewest Sachin Tendulkar's 254. The next in the list are Ricky Ponting (308 innings) and Sanath Jayasuriya (404).

65 balls to hundred by Jadhav was the second fastest ODI hundred for India against England after the 64-ball effort by Yuvraj Singh in Rajkot in 2008. The 29 balls he took to fifty is also the second fastest after MS Dhoni's 26-ball fifty in Cardiff in 2011.

122 by Kohli is the highest by an Indian captain against England in ODIs. He went past 117 not out by Sourav Ganguly in Colombo (RPS) in 2002.

17 hundreds in 96 innings by Kohli is the joint most for anyone in ODI chases along with Sachin Tendulkar who took 232 innings to reach there. 15 of these ended in wins which is the most by anyone in successful chases going past Tendulkar's 14 centuries in 124 innings.

5 The 200-run stand for the fifth wicket between Kohli and Jadhav is the fifth instance of fifth-wicket stand crossing 200 in ODIs. It is the highest against England by any team and second highest for India after the 223-run stand between Mohammad Azharuddin and Ajay Jadeja against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 1997.

351 The target of 351 chased down by India was the joint fourth-highest for any team and joint second-highest for India. Kohli has scored hundreds in each of these three matches 100* off 52 balls in Jaipur, 115* off 62 in Nagpur and 122 today.

Lack of Hotel Room Delays Virat and Co Arrival in Cuttack

Virat Kohli and his boys are set to stay in Pune till Wednesday morning even though the first ODI in the city got over on Sunday and India and England are scheduled to play the second ODI in Cuttack on Thursday.
‘Lack of hotel rooms in Cuttack’ will see the teams stay in Pune and prepare for the second match of the series. The rooms in the hotel that the team is supposed to stay in is already booked for wedding purposes and rooms are available only from Thursday morning.

“The team will be coming to Cuttack on Wednesday morning at 11:30 am and train around 4 pm in the afternoon. Actually, the hotel is overbooked till Tuesday and there are no rooms available for the teams. But rooms are available from Wednesday and so the delay in the travel plans,” he informed.
A member of the Indian team management said that the team will hold training in Pune on Tuesday after a day’s break.

Asked about preparations for the ODI, Behera said: “Everything is in order and we are hoping that the match will be a great success just like the first ODI in Pune. As for the hotels, we can’t really help when it comes to these things. We can only book rooms when we have it available.
