India's spin trio, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Jayant Yadav likely to be rested for England ODIs

India's successful spin combination of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Jayant Yadav are rest to be rested for upcoming ODI series against England.

After securing a comprehensive 4-0 triumph in the 5-match Test series, the Indian side will be back in action on January 15, as the limited overs' series begins.

As per the latest reports, MS Dhoni is likely to rest India's successful spin trio including Ashwin, Jadeja and Jayant for the entire series, just like he did in the New Zealand ODIs.

The decision is taken citing the upcoming Test matches against Bangladesh and Australia, hence selectors don't want their ever-present spinner to encounter injuries.

India are schedule to play a single Test match against Bangladesh and then welcome Australia in the month of February for a four-Test rubber.

While Ashwin and Jadeja's absence looks certain, Jayant might manage to grab a place in the squad alongside Amit Mishra, who bagged man of the series award in the ODI series against the Kiwis.

Delhi seamer Ishant Sharma, meanwhile, looks set to spearhead India's pace attack yet again while Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav and veteran seamer Ashish Nehra are also in contention.

When it comes to the batting unit, Rohit Sharma is certain to miss out after undergoing a successful thigh surgery while opener Shikhar Dhawan would to hoping to be given another chance despite failure in Tests and Ranji Trophy matches.

Karun Nair and KL Rahul look set to be handed opportunities in the limited overs' team too after producing scintillating knocks in the Chennai Test.

India vs England: Tickets for first ODI sold out

The Maharashtra Cricket Association has announced that tickets for the first One-Day International cricket match between hosts India and England, scheduled on January 15, 2017 at the MCA’s International Stadium, Gahunje, here, have been sold out.

Ticket sales for the day-night fixture commenced on December 15 and were sold out in 12 days, MCA said in a media release, adding that bookings for both physical and online tickets have thus, ended.

As a result of the sell-out, the stadium will have a total capacity of 37,406 in attendance at the game, the second ODI to be hosted at the stadium after a three–year gap, the release said.

The last time an ODI was played at the MCA Stadium was the India-Australia encounter on October 13, 2013.

“This is a great moment for MCA. Among many reasons for this sell-out include, the current form of the Indian team, the long gap since the last ODI was played in Pune, the following that the sport has in India and undoubtedly the Punekars,” said MCA President, Ajay Shirke.

England is set to play three ODIs, with the other two scheduled to be played at Cuttack (January 19) and Kolkata (January 22) on their return to the country after the Christmas and New Year break.

Afterwards, the two teams are also set to play three T20 Internationals between January 26 and February 1 at Kanpur, Nagpur and Bengaluru.

India vs England, ODI series: No 'conditioning camp' for MS Dhoni-led side as Virat Kohli raises objection

India cricket team's conditioning camp ahead of the limited overs' series against England has reportedly been cancelled with some players questioning the very purpose of such an exercise after a hectic schedule.

Brainchild of head coach Anil Kumble, the camp was originally planned from January 6 to 12 in Bengaluru. But a report in Times of India claimed that there will be no such exercise. It's believed that the proposed camp was intended to use to finalise the ODI squad, which will be led Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

“The likes of [Virat] Kohli wanted more rest before the ODI and T20 series against England and that is why the camp was called off. The team will have an extended nets sessions in Pune now,“ TOI qouted a BCCI source.

India are in the middle of a busy home schedule. After the West Indies tour, India have already played eight Tests and five ODIs.

“The team management did weigh the work-load on the cricketers. But there are some like ODI captain MS Dhoni who will have a good opportunity at the camp to get into the groove,“ the source added.

India are likely to play a practice match on January 13, but with the mental conditioning camp off the rather, players are likely to have extended net sessions. The three-match ODI series will start on January 15, which will be followed by another three-match T20I series.
