Disney's new Netflix rival will be called Disney+ and launch late 2019

Disney's new streaming service, Disney Plus, will stream to audiences starting in late 2019.

The company announced in August 2017 it would pull all its movies from Netflix in 2019, and start its own streaming offering for its past titles. The service will also feature new content, including original Marvel and Star Wars series. Disney also purchased Fox for $71.3 billion in cash and stock, further bolstering its library.

Its sports streaming service, ESPN+, reached 1 million paid subscribers in just five months.

Disney's strength was in family entertainment, but now apart from Marvel studios everything else is in trouble. They ruined Star Wars franchise by making too many changes from original series. ESPN Tv ratings are also suffering in US. Disney will also ruin Fox, so its a chance for new entrants like Apple, Amazon and Netflix to take over the entertainment industry. Apple's new streaming service which will launch in 2019. It will be free to all Apple device owners and it will be family friendly.

Disney plus and Hotstar may merge in US
Well I think this will not happen.
Hotstar is more an Indian thing (focusing on Indian audience) while disney+ will be for US audiences.(will not contain Indian Content).

They (Disney) will target different audience by keeping both the service (Disney+ & Hotstar) separate (for revenue purpose).

They will most likely merge both. Every streaming service wants one thing that is more and more content.
