There were a lot of buzz in the Indian smartphone industry this week which saw leading smartphone seller, Xiaomi making a couple of announcements. A new Indian smartphone maker, Mango, also announced its debut this week.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3
Xiaomi, after a long time, launched a smartphone in India. The new smartphone, named as Redmi Note 3 comes in two versions - one with 2 GB RAM is priced at Rs 9,999 while the 3 GB model is priced at Rs 11,999. Both the models will be available from Mi.com as well as from Amazon.in from March 9. Xiaomi has already started the registration process for its first flash sale.
Xiaomi has also launched a Bluetooth speaker, called Mi Bluetooth speaker, at Rs 1,999 which will be available around Holi, from Mi.com.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with a full metal body and comes with a 5.5 inch full HD display. It is armed with the 1.8 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 hexa core processor that runs this Android Lollipop based smartphone. The smartphone has a fingerprint sensor as well. Note that the 2 GB model has 16 GB of internal memory while the 3 GB versions has 32 GB of internal storage.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has a 16 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. The rear camera is equipped with 5 element lens, f/2.0 aperture, 78 degree wide angle lens, two tone flash light, panorama, HDR, and manual mode features. The front camera also has a f/2.0 aperture and it has face recognition and Beautify modes.
It is based on the Android Lollipop operating system and has a customised interface - MIUI 7. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 dual SIM with 4G connectivity, Bluetooth 4.1, dual band WiFi, WiFi Direct, and GPS with AGPS, GLONASS and Beidou. The Note 3 has IR blaster which will allow it to be used as a remote controller. Besides it has electronic compass, gyroscope, gravity sensor, proximity, hall, and light sensors.

Intex Cloud Breeze
It was found listed on the company's website for Rs 3,999. The smartphone comes in grey colour.
Intex Cloud Breeze features a 5-inch FWVGA (854 x 480) display with Gorilla Glass Protection and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core cortex A7 MediaTek MT6572W processor which is coupled with 1GB of RAM. The smartphone runs on an older Android 4.4 Kitkat operating system and comes packed with a 2300 mAh Polymer Lithium-ion battery, which claims to offer up-to 6 hours of talk-time on 2G and 4 hours of talk-time on 3G and upto 489 hours standby time.
The Cloud Breeze comes with 8GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded by upto 32GB via a micro SD card. The smartphone offers an 5-megapixel rear camera with F2.4 aperture, and an LED flash. For selfies, the smartphone has a 2-megapixel camera is in its front.
For connectivity, the device offers dual SIM, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/ AGPS, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and a micro USB 2.0 port. The handset measures 145.5 x 72.8 x 9.9mm and weighs around 153.5 grams. It has Gravity, Proximity and Light sensor. It comes reloaded with apps like Online Software Update, Matrabhasha, i-store, 360 Security, OLX, Opera Mini, Freecharge, Newshunt, Intex Service, Follo.

Lava Iris Fuel F2
A new Lava smartphone, named as Lava Iris Fuel F2 with a huge 3000 mAh battery, was made available earlier this week for just Rs 4,444. The smartphone is available in black and white colours.
As per the listing, the Lava Iris Fuel F2 is based on the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system that runs with the help of a 1.3 Ghz quad core processor and 512 MB RAM. Its 5 inch touchscreen has 480x854 pixels resolution, thus offering 196 ppi pixel density.
The Lava Iris Fuel F2 has 8 GB of internal memory and a 32 GB micro SD card slot. It is equipped with a 5 megapixel rear camera and a VGA front camera. The camera has panorama and HDR features. This dual SIM smartphone has 3G connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi, micro USB port, 3.5 mm jack and accelerometer. However, it has no GPS.
The Lava Fuel F2 has dimension of 142.5x72.5x10.5 mm (heigh, width, thickness).

Micromax Canvas Tab P702
Micromax, which used to launch several devices every month, these days launching very few devices. This week it announced just one device but it was a significant device nonetheless. The device, Canvas Tab P702, is infact its first 4G tablet. The tablet will be exclusively available on Shop Online in India at Snapdeal - India's Largest Shopping Site starting March 1, 2016 at Rs 7,999.
The Canvas Tab P702 is has a 7-inch HD IPS display, DTS sound dual box speakers, and a 3000 mAh battery. It is powered by MediaTek's MT8735 processor which incorporates LTE cat.4, quad core operating at 1.3 Ghz and 3D graphics. To assist the processor, there is 2GB RAM.
This tablet has two SIM card slot and it supports both TDD & FDD networks. It has internal storage of 16GB to which you can 32 GB more memory through a micro SD card.
The tablet also offers two cameras - a 2 megapixel in the front and a 5 megapixel rear auto focus camera with LED flash. Besides, it offers WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, voice calling support and Dual Box Speakers with DTS sound. The Canvas Tab P702 comes with a free screen guard that protects the screen from scratches and spills.

LYF Flame 1 , Wind 6
LYF, the smartphone brand of Reliance Retail, has formally announced the launch of Flame 1 and Wind 6 4G smartphones at Rs 6,490 & Rs 7,090 respectively on March 1.
LYF Flame 1 comes with a 4.5-inch FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) display, a 1.1 GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm SnapDragon 210 MSM8909 processor and 1GB of RAM. The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system and gets the power from 2000 mAh Lithium Polymer battery, which claims to offer up-to 8 hours of talktime and up-to 200 hours of standby time on 4G network.

The LYF Flame 1 comes with 8GB of internal storage,which can be further expandable to up-to 32GB via a micro SD card. The smartphone sports a 5-megapixel snapper both on its rear and front panels. For connectivity, it offers two SIM card slots, 4G, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, and a micro USB 2.0 port. The handset measures 132.6 x 66.2 x 9.3 mm and weighs around 138 grams.It offers VoLTE support as well.

LYF Wind 6 has a 5-inch IPS capacitive display with just 480x854 pixels resolution. It has a 1.1 GHz quad-core processor (Snapdragon 210) and 1GB of RAM. The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system and gets the power from a 2250 mAh Li-ion battery, which claims to offer up-to 9 hrs of 4G talktime.
The LYF Wind 6 comes with 8GB of internal storage,which can be further expandable to up-to 32GB via a micro SD card. The smartphone offers 5-megapixel rear and front cameras. The rear camera comes with an LED flash and has features like auto frame rate, red eye reduction, continuous auto focus, video HDR, smile detection, gaze detection, blink detection and panorama.
The Dual SIM smartphone is 4G compatible. Besides, Wind 6 offers Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi and a micro USB 2.0 port. The handset measures 143.5 x 72 x 8.7 mm and weighs around 156 grams. It also offers VoLTE (Voice over LTE) facility.

Mango Phones

mPhone 5S
Mango Phone or mPhone, whose directors have been embroiled in a fraud case, has entered the smartphone market earlier this week with six smartphones, named as mPhone 5S, mPhone 6, mPhone 7 Plus, mPhone 8, mPhone 9 Plus 3D and mPhone 11 Plus .
The mPhone 5S comes with a metal frame and glass back panel. This 4G smartphone features a 5-inch HD (1280x720p) IPS OnCell display. It has a 1.3 GHz MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor, which is paired with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and upto 64GB expandable storage option. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Freeme OS on top of it and is backed up by a 2600 mAh battery.
The mPhone 5S has an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. This Dual SIM smartphone also offers fingerprint sensor and comes with basic connectivity options like 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a micro USB port. The handset is priced at Rs 11,999 and comes in Gold, White, and Black colours

mPhone 6
The mPhone 6 is equipped with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080p) IPS display, 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a 32GB expandable storage slot. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Freeme OS on top of it and is backed up by a 3,200 mAh battery.
The mPhone 6 has a 13-megapixel auto-focus rear camera with LED flash and an 8-megapixel front shooter. This dual SIM smartphone also offers 4G-LTE connectivity, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a micro USB port. The handset is priced at Rs 16,999 and comes in Black, Dark Blue, White, Gray, and Rose Golden colours.

mPhone 7 Plus
The mPhone 7 Plus has a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080p) IPS display. It runs on a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek (MT6753) processor that is assisted by 3GB RAM. The phone has 32GB of internal storage which you can expand using its micro SD card slot. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and is backed up by a 2,600 mAh battery, which claims to offer up-to 8 hours of talk time.
It flaunts a 13-megapixel IMX214 rear camera with LED flash and an 8-megapicxel OmniVision front shooter. Connectivity options include Dual SIM, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and MicroUSB port. The mPhone 7 Plus is priced at Rs. 22,999 and comes in Gold, White and Black color options.

mPhone 8
The mPhone 8 features 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080p) LTPS display. It is powered by a 2.0GHz octa-core Helio P10 processor, which is paired with huge 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It has a micro SD card slot as well. The device runs on latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. It is packed with 3050 mAh battery, which claims to offer up-to 10 hours of talk time and upto 210 hours of standby. The handset also offers fingerprint sensor and supports wireless charging.
The mPhone 8 flaunts a 21-megapixel laser autofocus camera and an LED flash in its rear panel and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. On the connectivity front, the smartphone offers Dual SIM, 4G, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, and notably a USB Type-C port. The handset is priced at Rs. 27,999 and comes in Black, White, and Gold color options.

mPhone 9 Plus 3D
The mPhone 9 Plus 3D has 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) glasses-free 3D display. It is powered by the 1.3 GHz octa-core MediaTek (MT6753) processor, which is clubbed with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage and a 128GB expandable storage slot. This Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system based smartphone has a 3050 mAh battery that claims to offer up-to 10 hours of talk time and upto 210 hours of standby.
The mPhone 9 Plus 3D flaunts a 21-megapixel laser auto-focus rear camera with LED flash and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. On the connectivity front, the smartphone offers Dual SIM, 4G, WiFi (802.11, b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/AGPS, and notably a USB Type-C port. The handset also offers a fingerprint sensor, which is integrated on the home button. The handset is priced at Rs 34,999 and comes in Golden, and Grey color options

mPhone 11 Plus
The mPhone 11 Plus is the costliest phone of the company with a price tag of Rs 39,999. It is thus also armed with superb features that includes a 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display, a 1.85 GHz octa-core Helio X10 processor, 4GB RAM, 128GB of internal storage, 128GB expandable storage slot, Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system and a 4000 mAh battery, which claims to offer up-to 14 hours of talk time and up-to 330 hours of standby.
The mPhone 11 Plus has a 21-megapixel IMX230 camera with dual tone LED flash in its rear panel and an 8-megapixel shooter in its front. This Dual SIM smartphone also offers 4G, WiFi (802.11, b/g/n), WiFi Hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, GPS/AGPS, and a USB Type-C port with OTG support. The handset comes with a fingerprint sensor, which is integrated on the back panel. The handset comes in Golden colour only.
The Kerala based Mango Phone (aka mPhone) announced itself in a grand way, much like the controversial Ringing Bells, by giving full page advertisements in almost all top south Indian news papers. However, the brand got a very bad publicity when its promoters got arrested before the official launch of smartphones last week for allegedly duping Bank of Baroda for Rs 2.68 crore.
