Tata Docomo , the unified telecom brand of Tata Teleservices , on Tuesday launched a prepaid pack of Rs 500 which offers Rs 600 worth of talktime.
The move holds importance since the government has allowed the usage of old Rs 500 currency notes to recharge mobile phones till 15 December, 2016.
“We have launched these special packs for Rs 500 to add to the convenience of our subscribers during the demonetization phase who can avail these using the old 500 currency notes, ” said Jamshed Gilani, vice-president, consumer business, Mumbai – Tata Teleservices, in a statement.
The telco that currenty holds a market share of 5.66% will also offer a recharge coupon of Rs 494 to give users unlimited STD and local calls for 30 days in their home circles and Rs 250 worth of talk time and 5 GB data, valid for 60 days on recharging with Rs 496.
The telco is also offering 10 GB of data for 90 days at a price of Rs 495.
These offers come at a time when telcos are operating amidst cut-throat competition, especially post the entry of Reliance Jio , in order to retain their market share.
