NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on
Monday agreed to hear former
Maharashtra chief minister Ashok
Chavan's plea against Bombay high
court's order in the Adarsh housing
society scam case.
The apex court will hear his appeal
on April 24.
The top court has asked the
Maharashtra government to seek
adjournment before the trial court in
the case.

PUNE: Social activist Anna Hazare,
who is opposing the controversial
Land Acquisition Bill, is said to be
keen on undertaking a fast in Delhi
on the issue, but he is being
dissuaded by activists from doing so
on health grounds.
"Anna is very keen on undertaking a
fast at Jantar Mantar in Delhi but in
view of his health and hot climate
we have requested him to refrain
from the same," said Vishwambhar
Choudhary, an associate of Hazare,
here today.

NEW DELHI: The government is likely
to back net neutrality in India as
unfettered internet access is seen to
be crucial for spreading digital
literacy as well as for giving a fillip
to a startup culture. The view
firming up in the higher echelons of
the government is for internet
access on a "non-discriminatory"
basis so that there is "zero burden"
on ordinary data consumers.
In the backdrop of growing support
for net neutrality, telecom and IT
minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said on
Monday, "We feel that Internet is
one of the finest creations of the
human mind. It should have
linkages with the common man in a
non-discriminatory manner."
 
TRIPOLI, Libya: A Libyan official says
a bomb placed in a garbage bin
targeted the Moroccan Embassy in
the capital, Tripoli. There were no
casualties in the attack, which was
claimed by Libya's Islamic State
affiliate.
Security spokesman Essam al-Naas
says the bomb went off early
Monday. Morocco condemned the
attack and called for an
investigation.
Libya's branch of the Islamic State
group said in a statement on its
Twitter account that ''soldiers of the
caliphate'' targeted the building but
gave no motive. It also posted
several photographs of the embassy,
including one of an empty street at
night and another showing flames
caused by the explosion.
