MUMBAI: Inability to produce
corroborative evidences to back up
charge sheets, poor skill sets in
coordinating with prosecutors at the
time of investigation to come up
with legally strong evidences, and
lack of advanced forensic tools and
at times their ineffective use seem
to be heavily damaging the state's
reputation in controlling crimes and
criminals. Maharashtra, which
actually leads the national average
in filing charge sheets, is lagging far
behind the national average in
getting convictions.
