NEW DELHI: Voicing concern over
recent incidents of people being
arrested for posting alleged offensive
messages on websites, the Supreme
Court on Thursday agreed to hear a
PIL seeking amendment to the
Information Technology Act.
A bench headed by Chief Justice
Altamas Kabir said that it was
considering to take suo motu
cognisance of recent incidents and
wondered why nobody had so far
challenged the particular provision
of the IT Act.

Kunjannam of Parannur, near
Choondal in Thrissur district in
central Kerala died on Tuesday
morning. Kunjannam's name figured
in the latest Limca Book of Records
as the oldest living woman in India
.
Kunjannam was not well for some
days and she couldn't take any food
since Monday. She was admitted to
the hospital on Monday afternoon,
and efforts to save her by providing
intravenous feed did not prove
successful.
