Cisco Consumer Product (CCP)—the division which sells its products under the Linksys brand—has plans to replicate its international channel program in India.

As a part of its plan to revamp its distribution strategy and increase its present reseller base to 6000, the division would include mom and pop stores in the partner program.

Mohammad Meraj Hoda, MD, Emerging Markets, Cisco Consumer Products said, “We will launch our international partner program for IT retailers next quarter. Under the program, our partners will connect with mom & pop stores in their vicinity to increase sales. So far this segment was not taken into consideration but now we see a huge potential. This program has yielded very satisfying results in many countries including the US, and we expect a similar response in India as well.”

Initially the program will target the mom and pop stores in the top 10 cities, and will expand to tier-2 and tier-3 cities in a phased manner. CCP would provide POS materials and planograms in these shops to educate the end consumer.

“The planograms would help our consumers choose the right product. We will also have a merchandiser in each store to address their query and help them make the right choice,” said Hoda.

The company is arranging for consumer demo centres where retailers can create an real life experience environment of the networking products. “We have launched eight products in the last quarter and going forward expect to make more such launches,” he said.
