'Chalo' app which is the leading service provider for public bus live tracking and ticketing in many cities across India has now officially partnered with BEST to add Mumbai to it's list.
BEST general manager Lokesh Chandra has made the news official but the service is still in beta testing and will be launched to the public soon.
Commuters will now get reliable information about the live location of their bus along with the expected time of arrival at the stop and how crowded or empty the bus is, so that the commuter can make an informed choice of whether to wait for the bus or to opt for an alternate means of transport. The existing BEST prawas app has tracking feature but it is very inaccurate, Chalo does a much better job.
Commuters will be able to buy a QR based ticket for their journey directly on the app and pay through linked mobile wallet or UPI and just get the code scanned by the conductor instead of having to worry about loose change.
BEST will be launching a Chalo card as well which will be NFC enabled tap and go card which can be recharged with balance in multiples of 10 rs or be used to buy super saver passes.
BEST will be offering 72 super saver plan options for its daily commuters to save money on their travel needs. These can be bought either on the app or loaded by the conductor on the chalo card. The details of plans are given below.
BEST operates a fleet of 3,800 eco-friendly buses that on average carry 2.9 million daily passengers through over 63,000 trips every day. BEST has announced that its entire bus fleet will be only electric by 2027 and a large part of its fleet is already electric.
