Bhubaneswar, May 25: The Orissa government has constituted a cell to detect government land acquired by people fraudulently by manipulating documents.

State Revenue Minister S N Patro has said the cell, headed by an officer above the rank of a district Collector, will chalk out the modalities for the detection of such land.

The cell would also demarcate the land and hand over it to the General Administration Department to help the government to utilise the land in a meaningful way.

The government constituted the cell after acquisition of valuable government land by some people in a fraudulent manner came to the notice of the administration.

Mr Patro said in the first phase the cell would detect the government land taken over by people illegally in Bhubaneswar and in the Kalinganagar area of the Jajpur district.

Later, the cell would cover other areas of the state in phases, he said.
