Chromecast act as a medium between Ur Mobile and TV. It's only used for Casting ur Mobile/browser screen to ur Big TV screen whereas Firestick itself is a HDMI Device which has 8GB Rom and 1GB Ram for Installing Apps from Fire store. Anyone can download Amazon Prime, Hotstar, Ditto TV, Voot, Vootkids, Youtube, Gaana, Wynk on firestick. So that Just plug and play type device is Firestick, no need of Smart phone in this case.
