New Delhi, July 3 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy on Sunday said that his party will attend the all-party meeting on the issue of drafting of the Lokpal Bill.

Rudy said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by Bharatiya Janata Party would participate in the meeting, as it was related to the issue of corruption.

"The NDA has decided to participate in the meeting, of course the BJP took a lead and there are reservations of certain political parties, but having said that there is no question of a national opposition party like the Bharatiya Janata Party not participating in an all party meeting which is related to the issue of corruption and mechanism to be evolved for fighting corruption on the Lokpal Bill," said Rudy.

Rudy charged the ruling Congress Party of not consulting the Opposition, when the Lokpal Bill was at its initial stage.

"Something is very disturbing because the Congress party, which has created a logjam with the civil rights activists, did not find it appropriate to consult the opposition party at the initial stage and now it has entered into a cobweb, it wants us to participate," said Rudy.

"Absolutely we will participate in that, but it seems that the Congress is in a flip-flop mood, and that is creating a situation where there is lot of mistrust between the civil society activists and the Congress party. We are concerned about the situation because the entire thing, which prevails today, has been triggered off by the actions and large charges of corruption against the Congress party. We are hopeful that bill will be introduced in the parliament," he added.

Rudy noted that first the government should take a call on the Bill, make a draft, get it approved by the cabinet and bring it before the Parliament.

He said that it is in the Parliament that the BJP would respond to each and every clause, and added that in case of any point being is missed out, the BJP would ensure that it gets incorporated in the Bill.

"Question is that there are lot of conflicting views on inclusion of the judiciary, on inclusion of the Prime Minister. We would like the government to first spell out its stand and then certainly there would be a larger debate in parliament. We have to achieve a political consensus before we get into the final version of the bill and it is very important for the government of the day to take a call on the Bill, whether they want or they do not want," said Rudy.

"I think it would be very pre-emptive for opposition parties, but actually we do not know what the Congress is planning. It's a suspect and in this situation, the Bharatiya Janata Party is not there to bail out the Congress party, because it has created the mess, it should face the mess and that is why we say lets have the full bill in front of us, we will certainly respond," added Rudy.

Rudy said that the Congress Party was more eager in playing politics rather than taking steps to effectively combat corruption.

"The working of the Congress party, the initiatives by them, is always not very clear and its always very suspect because they are more interested in politics than actually fighting the battle of corruption and they are the people who are guilty today on large issues of corruption," said Rudy.

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has convened the all-party meeting with an aim to discuss the draft of the Lokpal Bill after central ministers and the civil society representatives of a joint drafting panel failed to arrive at a consensus and submitted different versions of the Bill.
