BenQ, the consumer lifestyle brand, has topped the projector category in India with a total market share of 20 percent, according to the FutureSource Consulting. The company clinched the top spot with over 26.5 percent quarter-on-quarter growth rate in the second quarter of 2011. It is the first time that the brand has achieved the number one position in India.
BenQ also holds a market share of 34 percent and 39 percent for Super Video Graphics Array. (SVGA) and short throw projector category according to FutureSource Consulting.
Rajeev Singh, Country Head and General Manager, BenQ India said, “With booming education market, projectors are one of the fastest growing product lines in India. Expected projector market size is of 3,00,000 units in 2011 and will be growing to 5,00,000 in 2012. We started by identifying the right target audience, understanding their needs and then building a strategy with our strong projector line-up. Today more than 40 percent of our India revenue comes from the projector business.”
Adrian Chang, President of BenQ Asia Pacific added, “With a YoY growth rate of 33 percent, India is a very promising market. And BenQ outgrew the market with intensive channel and marketing activities.”
