While the current BCCI president Shashank Manohar is all set to vacate his seat as he takes over the ICC, several officials from the Indian board are against the move.

According to a report in The Times of India, the officials are of the view that Manohar has done a good job of cleansing corruption, and leaving the post prematurely isn't the right thing to do. The officials also believe that the board needs Manohar to stay due to his clean image.

The report added that Manohar had spoken to the other prominent BCCI members about his plan to vacate the BCCI post at least two months ago and he has his reasons for doing so. Even today, he hasn't changed his stand on the issue.

Manohar only took the board's top position last October and if he resigns this May, it will be one of the shortest terms ever served by a president. It's worth noting that Jagmohan Dalmiya's reign lasted only six months — from March to September 2015 — until he passed away.
If at all Manohar wins the ICC chairman's election, then he will be eligible to hold the post till 2021.

The executive board of the global body passed a rule that ICC's chairman should be of independent nature and can't act in dual role keeping his position as his country's cricketing chief.
