Kane Richardson has been ruled out of
Australia's final One-Day
International against New Zealand
with a back trouble and will be
replaced by Joel Paris, Cricket Australia
announced on Sunday (February 7).
The pacer, said CA, would return home
"for further investigation into the
issue".
The injury comes at a very wrong time
for Richardson with Australia set to
announce their squad for the T20 WC
later this week. The 24-year-old
pacer's back injury is the third such
blow to the visitors who have already
lost their T20I skipper Aaron Finch and
all-rounder James Faulkner to
hamstring troubles.
James Pattinson is also with the
Australia squad in New Zealand but
has been instructed to focus on the
upcoming first Test against in
Wellington starting on February 12.
Paris, who made his ODI debut in the
ODI series against India, was with
Western Australia's Sheffield Shield
squad in New Zealand when called up.
