Failing to recover from their respective
injuries, senior batsman Ross Taylor
and all-rounder Mitchell Santner have
been left out squad for the second and
final Test against Australia, New
Zealand Cricket announced on Monday
(February 15).

Taylor is struggling to recover from
side strain while Santner was ruled out
of action after sustaining a foot injury
in the second One-Day International
of the preceding Chappell-Hadlee
Trophy against Australia.
"Everyone wants to play against
Australia, so both guys are
understandably disappointed to be
missing out," said Mike Hesson, New
Zealand's head coach.
"The players and the medical staff
worked hard to be available for the
match, but in the end ran out of time." Read More: Santner, Taylor ruled out of second Australia Test - Cricbuzz

Why has Live Cricket from New Zealand disappeared from Indian TV sets?
It seems the cricket broadcasters believe that an Indian cricket fan will only see cricket matches if they are broadcast at a convenienttime, and that a match starting at 0300 hrs is not a convenient time. Nothing else can explain theabsenceofLive Cricket from New Zealand onIndian TV screens.India presently has 22 sports channels including the government-run DD sports, and 5 different Sports Networks available. All of them have let Indian cricket viewers down and left the Indian cricket watching community deprived ofcricket matches from New Zealand.Narrow perception about Indian audienceIt's strange that in a country whereany kind of cricket at all kinds of odd hours is devoured by the cricket loving public, broadcastershave refused to go in for Live broadcast from the Kiwi nation.
One broadcaster has made the Caribbean Premier League one of the focal points of its programming, even though the matches are telecast well past midnight in India, much like cricket played from New Zealand would be.However, despite the popularity of CPL in India, and good viewership and following, no broadcaster seems willing to broadcast cricketfrom New Zealand. Perhaps, it's also a reflection of how the broadcasters perceive theIndian cricket watching viewers as- nothing more than mindless zombies out to devour as much T20 cricket as they find, but barelyinterested in Test Cricket. Is this perception correct? The broadcasters will point to the empty stands during the recent India-South Africa Test series, as an evidence of this mentality. What however is also the truth, is that the general perception of T20 cricket as the mass version of cricket does drive up the prices of advertisement, which makes T20 a much more financially viable option. Whether fans like it or not, money always drives the market, and sports broadcast market is nodifferent.http://m.sportskeeda.com/cricket/why-live-cricket-new-zealand-disappeared-indian-tv-broadcast

Peter Siddle, Australian pace bowler,
will not be a part of the side to take on
New Zealand in Christchurch. The
game will be New Zealand captain
Brendon McCullum's 101st Test and
final game for the nation. Siddle has
been ruled out of the second Test
against New Zealand with back
trouble, Cricket Australia said
Thursday, with James Pattinson a
likely replacement.

Siddle was troubled by back spasms
during the final day of Australia's
crushing innings and 52 run trouncing
of the Black Caps in the first Test in
Wellington and had been in doubt for
the second Test starting in
Christchurch on Saturday.
"Peter experienced some discomfort in
his back during the first Test in
Wellington and has not recovered
sufficiently enough to play the Test,"
team physiotherapist David Beakley
said in a statement. Read More: Peter Siddle ruled out of second Test v New Zealand - Cricbuzz

Matt Henry has been awarded a place
in the New Zealand Test side in place
of injured pacer Doug Bracewell for
second and final Test of the Trans-
Tasman series against Australia in
Christchurch, starting Saturday
(February 20).

Bracewell injured the rotator cuff of
his right shoulder and will sit out of
Brendon McCullum's farewell Test.
The New Zealand captain will be
appearing in his 101st Test, on the trot
since his 2004 debut. This will also be
the 34-year-old's last international
game for New Zealand, at Hagley Oval.
The pitch sports a green tinge in
Christchurch and McCullum was left
pondering whether to go with a four-
man pace attack or with three fast
bowlers and a lone spinner Mark Craig.
"Matt Henry will come in for Doug
Bracewell and it's just trying to work
out whether we play Mark Craig or Neil
Wagner and that's the decision we've
got to make," McCullum told reporters
on the eve of the game .. Read More: Matt Henry replaces injured Bracewell for second Test - Cricbuzz
