Ravichandran Ashwin is like ‘Bradman’ of bowling at the moment: Steve Waugh

Former Australia captain Steve Waugh on Tuesday called Ravichandran Ashwin the Don Bradman of bowling. Waugh said that Ashwin is the player the Australian team would need to overcome during its upcoming tour of India.

Set to play a four-Test series against India starting on February 23 in Pune, Waugh felt the Australian team would have to keep calm under pressure and find ways to deal with Ashwin’s bowling.

Ind vs Aus 2017: Virat Kohli on verge of breaking yet another record by 'guru' Sachin Tendulkar

Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli, who has been in the form of his life since the beginning of 2016, looks all set to create more history in the upcoming four-match series against Australia. Against Steve Smith and his men, Kohli is closing in on another record, owned by his idol Sachin Tendulkar.

The 28-year-old currently has 895 points under his belt in ICC Test rankings, just 38 short of top-ranked Smith.

While he has already left behind Rahul Dravid (892 points), he needs three more points to go past Tendulkar (898 points). Considering his purple form, leaving Tendulkar behind would ideally be a cakewalk for the Indian skipper.

We know what to expect against Ashwin and Jadeja: Shaun Marsh - Cricbuzz

Australia ended the first day of their warm-up clash against India A on a strong note with 327 for 3 on the board. Steve Smith and Shaun Marsh struck centuries and looked comfortable out in the middle, having spent time in the United Arab Emirates preparing in the simulated subcontinent conditions ahead of the crucial four-match Test against Virat Kohli's men.

While they were tested by just one frontline spinner - Shahbaz Nadeem, Marsh opined that Australia would benefit from the time spent in the middle when they take on R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.
"We know what we are expecting against Ashwin and Jadeja. It's just about being ready for it," Marsh said on Friday (February 17). "It's all about player having a really strong gameplan and sticking to it.

"I've played a lot of cricket over here; one-day cricket, IPL or Tests in Sri Lanka. I feel pretty comfortable here. It was good to spend time out there in the middle. Hopefully we all are able to do that in the next two days and are ready to go next week. Of course, as individuals it does give you confidence when you have a good day in a warm-up game. Smithy was batting well as well. He's obviously a very good player and his records speak for himself as well.
