Stats highlights from Day 3 of the Pune Test:

212 Runs scored by India in this Test - 105 in the first and 107 in the second innings. It is their lowest aggregate in a home Test, eclipsing their previous lowest of 247 runs against England in Chennai in 1977 . 444 balls is the lowest number of balls faced by India in a Test where they were bowled out twice, beating the previous record of 606 balls against New Zealand in Hyderabad in 1969 .

3 This was the third instance of India getting dismissed for less than 150 twice in a Test in India. The previous instances also came against Australia - in Kolkata in 1956 and in Chennai in 1960 .

333 The margin of defeat for India this Test - their second heaviest home defeat after the 342-run loss against Australia in Nagpur in 2004 . The last time they lost a home Test inside three days was against South Africa in Ahmedabad in 2008 .

20 This was India's first loss at home since December 2012 in which they played 20 Tests. It has equalled their longest unbeaten run in home Tests from January 1977 to 1980. This was Virat Kohli's first home defeat as Test captain.

9 Consecutive defeats for Australia in Asia before this win. Their last win in Asia came against Sri Lanka in Galle in 2011 while their last in the Indian soil came in Nagpur in October 2004.

12 for 70 by O'Keefe is the second best figures against India in Tests as well as the second best by a visiting bowler in India. The best figures still belong to Ian Botham who took 13 for 106 at the Wankhede in 1980.

6 for 35 by O'Keefe in each innings is the best identical figures in each innings of a Test. The previous record was held by Bhagwat Chandrasekhar who took six for 52 in each innings against Australia at the MCG in 1977.

5 This was the fifth instance of an Australian spinner taking six wickets in each innings of a Test. He emulated Hugh Trumble, Clarrie Grimmett (twice) and Shane Warne. The last Australian bowler to take two five-fers in a Test in India was Greg Matthews in the tied Test in Chennai in 1986.

5 Steve Smith became the fifth player to score centuries in five (or more) consecutive Tests against a particular opposition. He scored a hundred in each of the four Tests against them at home in the 2014/15 series.

108 Balls faced by O'Keefe since his last scoring shot in Tests and before getting off the mark today. His last run came in Pallekele last year, after whch he faced 76 more balls in that innings without scoring. He was dismissed for a 13-ball duck in the first innings of this Test and got off the mark off the 20th ball he faced in the second innings. Among known instances, only Tony Lock has faced more dots between scoring a run - 115 across three Tests in 1954.

3 This Test match was only the third instance of a team opening with a spinner at either end in each of the four innings of a Test in the last 100 years. The previous instances were between Sri Lanka and New Zealand in Colombo in 1998 and between Bangladesh and England in Chittagong last year .
