Among the known instances, Rahul Dravid held the record previously, playing 495 balls in his effort of 270 against Pakistan in Rawalpindi in 2004. The previous most by any batsman in India was Younis Khan - 504-ball 267 in Bengaluru in 2005.
11 Double hundreds for Pujara in first-class cricket, the joint-most for any Indian player, with Vijay Merchant. He also became the first player to go past 2000 runs in first-class cricket in a season in India. He currently has 2007 runs from 27 innings this season, 1259 of those coming in Test matches.
