Apple Watch Series 2 Ceramic edition priced at Rs 1,10,900 to launch in India on October 7...

NEW DELHI: Apple launched its second generation smartwatch along with the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus at its recently concluded event in San Francisco, California. While the Apple Watch Series 2 comes in quite a few variants, the Ceramic edition is the most expensive of them all. It's priced at an astounding Rs 1,10,900 and will go on sale in India from October 7.
Apple Watch Series 2 comes in three major variants (based on material used in construction of the case) - Aluminium, Stainless Steel and Ceramic White. There are also new straps created in collaboration with Hermes, a popular fashion brand. However, there is no Gold variant of the Apple Watch Series 2, unlike its predecessor.

Under-the-hood, Apple Watch Series 2 runs watchOS 3 and is powered by a new dual-core processor. It also comes with a new GPU for 2x better graphics performance than before. As for the display, the new-gen wearable device sports a second-gen OLED display that is claimed to be up to two times brighter than that in the original Apple Watch. There's also a built-in GPS for better tracking of distances, among other features.
The new Apple Watch Series 2 is water resistant up to 50m and comes with some new apps like Night Sky, Breathe and ViewRanger. Some other apps have also been upgraded for the watchOS 3
In addition, Niantic Labs is bringing its wildly-popular Pokemon Go gaming app to Apple Watch. The app lets users know how much walking is needed to hatch an egg, provides notifications about Pokestops, and more. Pokemon Go for Apple Watch will arrive later this year.
The Cupertino-based tech giant has also rebranded its original Apple Watch as Apple Watch Series 1. It's now powered with a new dual-core processor, the same that powers the Series 2 watch. Apple claims that the upgrade makes the refreshed Series 1 up to 50% faster as compared to the original watch. All other features of the Series 1, such as the heart rate sensor, splash resistance and OLED Retina display with Force Touch remain the same. The watch promises to deliver 18 hours of battery backup on a single charge.
