Starting today, Apple TV is available for the “Android TV OS ecosystem,” Google tells us. This means that any modern Android TV device can access the service. The list includes your traditional streaming box/stick including the likes of Xiaomi as well as TVs from TCL, Hisense, and other brands. Previously, the app was only available on Sony Bravia TVs and Chromecast with Google TV.

Don't think so...sony already said apple tv app not available old devices....my tv version android 9 but get this app.

Oh, You need Android 8.0+ to run this app. Airtel xstream box runs on android 9 but it comes under operator-tier device so need to wait for the release (if they planned for it).

Apple has abruptly removed the option to rent or purchase movies through its Apple TV app on Android TV devices. The app now points people towards Apple’s own products to rent, buy, or subscribe to Apple TV Plus.

Google needs percentage of the purchases made on your Android app. Apple can avoid those charges by making people make the purchases on iTunes and iOS.

They should start a website for those with only Android phone and an Android/FireTV so that they can make purchases on website and watch on Apple TV app. Apple is the only rent/buy provider without a website as of now.
